Dianne moved into her Aeon home over a decade ago, returning to a neighborhood filled with memories. She had grown up nearby, attended church just down the road, and felt immediately connected to the area. When she needed an affordable place to live, Aeon’s apartment community felt like coming home.
Since then, Dianne has become a leader and a friend to many in her building. For the past six years, she has served on the Resident Council, a group that works together to support neighbors, share ideas, and make the community stronger. “It just felt like a natural step,” she says, drawing on her experience leading her church’s women’s group.
One of her favorite parts of the building is the community room—a warm, welcoming space where neighbors gather daily. “I met my closest friends just by sitting and talking at the round table,” she says. “We’re still there every day, and others are always welcome to join us.” For Dianne and many of her neighbors, that sense of connection helps ease the loneliness that can come with aging.
While she’s proud of her home and deeply values the community around her, Dianne also sees opportunities for growth. Some areas of the building—like older carpets or basic apartment updates—could use attention. “It might sound small, but things like a fresh coat of paint or updated appliances make a big difference,” she says. “I want to feel proud inviting my loved ones over. I want to make memories here.”
Dianne believes in the power of place—and in Aeon’s commitment to the people who call these properties home.
