Originally named Central Community Housing Trust, Aeon formed in response to the loss of affordable homes in downtown Minneapolis. Buri Manor became the first tangible result of that vision, creating stable homes for neighbors in the community.

Homes that shaped our history
Since 1986, Aeon has responded to changing housing needs with creativity, partnership, and a lasting commitment to affordability. Explore a few of the milestones that brought us here.

As homelessness increased in Minneapolis, Aeon developed the Opportunity Housing Project. The Coyle, The Lamoreaux, and The Continental paired affordable homes with on-site services that help residents maintain housing stability.
Aeon redeveloped The Archdale as its first community created to serve young people experiencing homelessness. Housing and wraparound services gave residents room to build stability and pursue their goals.
As the organization grew beyond its original Minneapolis neighborhoods, Central Community Housing Trust became Aeon. The new identity reflected a broader vision for long-term leadership and impact in affordable housing.
Sienna Green I and II became Aeon’s first expansion outside its original Minneapolis neighborhoods after the City of Roseville reached out for help with a struggling multifamily community.
The Landing opened as Aeon’s first community designed to serve seniors. On opening day, residents celebrated the joy and relief of having an affordable place to call home.
The Wellstone helped set a new standard for sustainable affordable
housing in Minnesota. At the time of construction in 2010, it
featured the state’s largest photovoltaic solar installation on a
multifamily building with numerous energy-efficient design elements.
The Rose carried that work forward as a LEED-certified community
centered on resident health, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
In 2016, The Rose earned six major awards for sustainability.
The purchase of Seasons Park in Richfield launched a renewed wave of preservation work. Aeon invested in aging apartment communities so they could remain safe, welcoming, and affordable for the people already living there.
What’s next
With Rachel Robinson serving as President and CEO, Aeon is looking toward its next 40 years. Work underway includes transforming Mary Hall in Saint Paul and planning new affordable and supportive homes in Minneapolis and Rochester.
