Exodus Housing Partnership.

Unparalleled opportunity for your community to support affordable housing

Project Overview.

Aeon is partnering with Saint Olaf Catholic Church to transform the Exodus Residence in downtown Minneapolis and we invite your community to be a part of this project!

The project has successfully transitioned from its early planning phase and is close to securing the remaining financing to support this housing rehabilitation. The renovated units will offer subsidized rents to provide safe, dignified housing to individuals with low incomes.

Nonprofit developers like Aeon work with its partners and communities to help raise philanthropic dollars to make low-rent housing possible. Project financing is set to close Mid 2025, followed by 12 months of construction. Our remaining goal for this project is $2 million.

We would love to partner with your community to help bring this affordable housing project to completion.

History of the Exodus Residence.

819 Second Avenue in downtown Minneapolis has a history of providing a home to those in need. From 1956 to 1992, the building was operated as a women’s residence by the Women’s Christian Association. Known as the Mahala Fisk Pillsbury Club, the building was purchased and updated by St. Olaf Catholic Church and Catholic Charities in 1992.

When it became clear the building was no longer habitable and needed major renovations, Catholic Charities moved the residents to a newly remodeled space in downtown and St. Olaf began a search for a partner to help renovate what was then known as the Exodus Residence.

In 2019, St Olaf found that partner in Aeon. The Exodus Housing Partnership is an opportunity to address substantial rehabilitation needs, ultimately maintaining 72 affordable homes and creating needed space for community residential services on the property.
